Maths assessment task multiplicative strategies

In Maths we have been learning to use a range of multiplicative strategies when operating with whole numbers.

The strategies we have been learning are:

- Estimate the reasonableness of large problems like 1 788 – 891. Could 497 be right?
- Use multiplication to solve addition and subtraction problems eg.
  64 – 48 = as (8 x 8) – (6 x 8) = 2 x 8= 16
- Use doubling / halving, trebling/ thirding and adjusting to solve multiplication problems,
 eg.  12 x 50 solved as 4 x 150= 600
- Use an algorithm to solve multiplication problems.
- Solve problems using simple cube numbers .
- Use an algorithm to solve division problems.
- Use standard form of division.

Here is a link to my Multiplicative Strategies Assessment which shows that I know why and how I use particular strategies. This doc also has screenshots to show which IXL activities I have completed as part of my learning. My test answers

My next step in my Maths Learning is…… Understand addition and subtraction of fractions, decimals and integers.

My care progress

I have done a check of my CARE progress so far this year.

I am proud of my progress/ I am doing OK/ I feel I could do much better.
(Highlight the one that applies to you and delete the ones that don’t)

I am doing OK because I almost have my bronze i'm only a few ticks behind but getting your bronze is harder.

How far away are you from reaching your BRONZE/SILVER i am only six highlights away from getting my bronze

The area of CARE that I need to try harder in C / A / R / E I chose Excellent because I don't have as much ticks in that coll-em.

To achieve my BRONZE/SILVER award quicker I need to focus on recording my ticks because I don't fill them in.

The one thing that I can do to improve my progress in CARE is keep focus on school and play with friends at lunch.

We will review CARE progress again at the end of the term.

Music

I can describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

Over the past 7 weeks I have been learning to describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place

I can describe these characteristics in a piece of music…
melody:A series of single notes that are played over and over again.

harmony Multiple notes that are played together all at once
Major - Happy Song
Minor - Sad song

rhythm a strong, regular repeated pattern of movement or sound

timbre Sound quality. A special sound that makes each voice or instrument different. Has its own tone.

form The music plan. How the song is put together.

Here is an example of my learning my work

multiplicative strategies

In Maths we have been learning to use a range of multiplicative strategies when operating with whole numbers.

The strategies we have been learning are:
estimation as a check
use multiplication to solve addition and subtraction problems
use doubling halving and trebling
use an algorithm to solve multiplicative problems
solve problems using simple cube numbers

My next step in my Maths Learning is…..My next step is to answer questions in Multiplicative Strategies faster so I can go rapidly through them.
